Welcome to the forum!

We are really glad to have you join us! Developing a model of herbalism that draws upon all of the best of herbal medicine, that accounts for as much of reality as possible, that integrates the many components of health and wellness and the many different paradigms surrounding healing, is a big endeavor! It is not something that anyone could do on their own: we each hold different parts of the jigsaw puzzle and only through us coming together to see what fits can we build this vision. So whatever your interests and areas of expertise, if you have any draw towards seeing where they would fit into a larger whole or exploring what this larger whole might look like, we welcome you and greatly look forward to your input!

It might be good if we all introduce ourselves and say a few words about our interests so that we all have an idea of what interests, knowledge and skill-sets we bring to the table. You can use the following questions if you so wish:

  • What is your name and where are you based?
  • What is your background in health or herbalism (e.g. your approach, qualifications or interests)?
  • What is most exciting to you about taking an integral (or integrative) approach?

If you would like to mention your website if you have one, feel free (just nothing spammy)!

Ok, so to kick this off I’ll start with myself…

My name is Mark and I am currently based in Glastonbury.

I gained a BSc in Herbal Medicine in 2009. I have only just started setting up practice as after finishing uni I spent two years doing voluntary work in the Carpathian mountains in Romania. This included setting up a herb garden, studying the wild plants, making remedies, and creating a small book of herbs for the community to use. This is one of the aspects of Herbal Medicine that I am very interested in: using it to increase self-reliance in terms of health and medicine (for both individuals and communities). Other more general interests include human development and evolution, meditation, the Transition Movement, and nature and being outdoors, to name a few.

What I find most exciting about the integral approach is its inclusivity and rigor; how it gives a such a brilliant map of the terrain of our existence and can be used to bring different ideas and approaches together into a greater whole, without getting too flaky!

I have a website at http://markjack.co.uk which I am currently developing.
